Mission Statement (Rough Draft)
Disaster Comm Ohio Mission Statement
Disaster Comm Ohio is an organization intended to enhance inter-agency co-operation among emergency and disaster response communications groups and their serviced agencies. In addition to linking traditional amateur radio emergency communications groups together, we wish to include Internet and consumer technologies and invite hardware and software hackers/technologists to contribute to our mission.
We feel strongly that existing amateur radio technologies are crucial when existing infrastructure is unavailable. We have also observed the force multiplier effect of social media and its ability to mobilize normal people in response to disaster. It is our intent to foster cooperation between these technologies in the belief that they can do more good by working together.
We intend to provide the following services:
- A knowledge base of techniques and gadgets used for EMCOMM
- A reporting mechanism for ongoing disasters in Ohio
- A forum to request assistance for events in Ohio
Founder Bios
Michael Clark is a Network Technology Architect specializing in Networking and Wireless technologies for a local I.T. Consulting/Reseller Firm. He currently holds an Extra Class Amateur Radio license: AC8CG. Michael has a B.S. in Information Technology from Franklin University and an A.S. Electronics from the College of Marin and holds certifications as a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (#3503), HP Master Accredited Systems Engineer, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (Inactive)
Kevin Liston is an Information Security Analyst for a Major Financial Institution specializing in Financial Fraud Investigation, and Computer Security Incident Response. He currently holds a General Class Amateur Radio license: N8WDU. He has has a B.S. Theoretical Mathematics and minors in Computer Science and Philosophy from The University of Akron. Kevin holds a number of computer security certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (Inactive,) GCIA, GCIH, and GSNA.
