My summer reading list included "Ham Radio for Arduino and PICAXE" edited by Leigh Klotz and published by the American Radio Relay League (http://www.arrl.org/ham-radio-for-arduino-and-picaxe)
The book opens with a message from Dale Dougherty, founder of Make Magazine, and I hoped this would be a book that shared one of the disastercommohio missions: getting Makers and Hams working together. The book is more of a microcontroller-book-for-hams, than a ham-book-for-microcontroller-experimenters.

Michael (AC8CG) has been asking me to create the "next hack," for our projects. "I want a button that you can click on a website that actuates a switch, maybe via USB." Well, this isn't USB, but it resembles what I've been trying to create with the Arduino telemetry project. Basically microcontroller + ethernet + webserver + relays is what I was working on.

The Greater Wellington Regional Council of New Zealand has commissioned a best-practices guide to using social media in a disaster. The paper is broken up into three phases dealing with the use of social media before, during, and after a disaster. It's worth taking a read: http://www.gw.govt.nz/social-media
