The common intent of a logo is to graphically symbolize an organization's focus and purpose. For our first attempt at the DisasterCommOhio.org logo, we wanted to highlight a few main ideas...Let us know what you think.

• Our focus is serving Ohio. It's a big state with a lot of people involved in disaster technologies and emergency communications. We're hoping that this site will evolve into a go-to resource to exchange ideas.
• Radio technologies are vital to our support mission. Not everyone is an amateur radio operator, but practically every disaster response requires mobile service based some sort of RF-- be that point-to-point radio, wireless LAN, cellular, or satellite.
• We are strong proponents of digital communications. Nearly every form of communications technology available today can use Internet-protocol devices and web-based applications. If we leverage and apply this to our systems, we can increase our functionality at a reasonable cost.
• Our systems are designed to support voice, data, video, and image services. We believe that it takes all forms of media to provide good situational awareness. History shows that better information about the disaster yields a better response.
